A short film featuring 8 precipitation reactions shot with a microscope. This film is part of Envisioning Chemistry (www.BeautyOfScience.com/ec), the sequel to Beautiful Chemistry (www.beautifulchemistry.net).
List of precipitation reactions:
1. Nickel chloride and sodium carbonate produce nickel carbonate precipitation.
2. Iron(III) chloride and sodium hydroxide produce iron(III) hydroxide precipitation.
3. Barium chloride and sodium sulfate produce barium sulfate precipitation.
4. Chromium chloride and sodium hydroxide produce chromium hydroxide precipitation.
5. Copper sulfate and sodium hydroxide produce copper hydroxide precipitation.
6. Silver nitrate and potassium chromate produce silver chromate precipitation.

Precipitation IV
Precipitation reactions occur when cations and anions in solution combine to form an insoluble solid called a precipitate. This film shows the artistic exploration of the colors and forms generated by various precipitation reactions. In some cases, multiple precipitates were formed at the same time, giving rise to interesting shapes and textures.
